WHAT WE DO
We currently aim to carry out our work through three distinct pathways which work to understand the immediate and long-term needs of women and other marginalised individuals within the South Asian diaspora community and build an ecosystem that works to address those needs better. We hope that, through this, we can offer alternatives that genuinely transform the spaces we occupy.
Breaking the silence: We seek to focus on understanding the lived experiences within our communities, building trust and strong relationships among our peers, creating safe spaces to allow individuals to talk about their experiences more openly and honestly.
Cultivating a new culture: We raise awareness of oppressive structures that exist in the world at large which are then replicated in our communities and allow gender inequality and other forms of oppression to persist. We hope to move towards creating safer, more radical and hopeful communities.
Co-creating spaces for support: We are working to bring together a hub of support services that might support womxn in our communities in times of need. Having had many individuals reach out to us, we recognise the need for a resource that can guide them even when we are unable to support directly.
