[UN]LEARN

"We are committed to the idea that study is what you do with other people. It’s talking and walking around with other people, working, dancing, suffering, some irreducible convergence of all three, held under the name of speculative practice. The notion of a rehearsal—being in a kind of workshop, playing in a band, in a jam session, or old men sitting on a porch, or people working together in a factory—there are these various modes of activity. The point of calling it “study” is to mark that the incessant and irreversible intellectuality of these activities is already present."

- The Undercommons, Fred Motens

"I’ve been clumsy even though I’ve wanted to be careful and I learnt that I need to slow down and really listen, that it's not all about me, that there is not a hierarchy of oppression or a right and a wrong way to learn or unlearn." - This Work Isn’t For Us, Jemma Patel

This project offers a hub of critical knowledge building resources, activities and dynamic learning spaces where our team and members of our community can come to learn and unlearn about issues affecting our communities within and outside of the diaspora. Our objectives include:

  •  To create space to uplift and surface voices and issues that are otherwise marginalised within the South Asian diaspora.

  • To give space, tools and resources for us to learn and unlearn around various social justice issues with an intersectional and critical lens.

  • To facilitate a shift towards justice, equity and harm reduction in our communities.

  • To bridge the experiences of our siblings based in South Asia with that of the diaspora.

  • To create a space that encourages dialogue and conversation.
